EMC Compliance is a crucial part of this strategy, the team is looking for an exemplary engineer who's passionate about debugging and solving EMC/EMI issues. EMC Compliance Engineer will support product validation testing for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) for current and next generation Tesla Energy products and work on next-gen power converters for an array of cutting-edge applications such as vehicle on-board chargers, PV inverters, Powerwall, Supercharger, Megapack, and more.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with design teams in all phases of electronic product development for EMC, including prototype, verification, and validation
Perform product change assessment for EMC and identify applicable EMC tests to satisfy EMC specification and homologation/regulatory requirements
Leverage your strong technical background and problem‑solving abilities to debug issues and implement fixes during EMC testing, ensuring our products are fully compliant with required standards
Experience with EMI filter design and design of common mode and differential mode chokes for noise filtering
Perform EMC testing for Tesla Energy Products such as Megapack, Powerwall, Supercharger, etc. and collaborate with EMC troubleshooting efforts
Define and lead design of experiments for troubleshooting EMC Emissions and Immunity issues
Coordinate EMC testing with 3rd party laboratories and lead product readiness for EMC testing
Review, analyze, and interpret EMC test results; communicate accordingly to cross functional teams
Develop and validate EMC test setups for emissions and immunity per test methods such as FCC Part 15, IEC 61000-4-2, -3, -4, -6 etc.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Fundamental knowledge of power electronics topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC) and mitigating EMC/EMI related issues
Working knowledge of Medium Voltage (1kV to 35kV) Devices
Experience with CAD Layout tools: Altium, Cadence
Working knowledge on instruments required for EMC testing such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, antennas, coupling clamps, field probes, ESD simulators, etc.
Basic understanding of Electromagnetic theory applied to EMC testing
Hands‑on experience in debugging radiated and conducted emissions and immunity issues
Experience with Spice tools such as LTspice, PLECS
Experience with System‑level EMC related issues: Grounding, Shielding and Bonding
Willing to travel nationally and internationally between Tesla facilities and certification laboratories

Expected Compensation $68,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
