What to Expect The Low Voltage Power Firmware Team is responsible for power distribution and LV battery management systems (BMS) on all Tesla vehicle platforms. As an engineer on this team, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality embedded C code for the power management firmware. This includes, but is not limited to, LV power redundancy and latent fault detection for by‑wire and autonomous vehicles, vehicle fault and crash behaviors, power management for over‑the‑air updates (OTAs), and low / idle power modes and sleep features.

You will work closely with integration and validation engineers to design and validate the performance capabilities of our hardware and firmware to ensure code quality is high. You will join a team of deeply knowledgeable and passionate engineers that strive to build the most robust and reliable embedded systems. You will solve challenging problems in the embedded software space and influence the world's adoption of electric vehicles and energy sustainability.

What You’ll Do

Deliver high‑quality C code in a real‑time embedded environment

Specify, design, and implement functionality and behaviors of embedded subsystems

Design the software architecture and firmware implementation through integration, testing and high‑volume manufacturing

Hands‑on hardware bring‑up, system debugging and code optimization

Writing component level tests to ensure proper functionality

Make performance and optimization trade‑offs to meet product requirements

What You’ll Bring

At least 3 years of relevant experience in embedded design

Experience with mentoring / providing technical guidance for other development engineers preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechatronics with evidence of exceptional ability, or equivalent experience

Experience with fundamental hardware components on PCB and their analysis tools

Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals including circuit analysis and design

Proficiency in C, comprehension of Python

Fluent in software fundamentals including software design and maintainability

Experience with the embedded microprocessor tools

Ability to collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts

Expected Compensation $164,480 - $292,800/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
