The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria seeks a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist for a position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Pediatrics either MD or MD/PhD to enhance a growing division. The main responsibility is to work as a physician scientist, committing time and effort to basic/translational research in the laboratory in the field of pediatric oncology. The physician scientist will be expected to engage in active collaborative research and build clinical and/or translational research in the division. The physician scientist will have access to existing lab space.
The position requires 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 3 years of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship. The ideal candidate will be BC/BE in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and will hold or have applied for an Illinois physician's license. Physician scientist will also engage in caring for inpatients and outpatients with a variety of pediatric hematologic and oncologic problems, including those followed at the OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois Cancer and Blood Disorder Institute. The position includes care of inpatients and outpatients with a variety of pediatric hematologic and oncologic problems, including those followed at the OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois Cancer and Blood Disorder Institute.
Position includes dedicated time in the lab to conduct individual basic or translational research in pediatric oncology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Peoria Campus.

Organize and conduct bench and/or clinical research in the field of pediatric hematology/oncology.
Participate in cooperative research efforts and clinical trials research protocols at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee and the Children's Oncology Group (COG). This clinic is both a St Jude affiliate as well as active COG site.
Perform other duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and administration, as needed.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 3 years of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship.
MD/DO or equivalent.
Experience in basic/translational lab work.
