This position offers a flexible, hybrid working arrangement.
The Position We are actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated trial attorney with at least 8 years of experience to join our high‑performing litigation team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to defend complex cases in premises liability matters involving personal injury and property damage claims and in general liability and labor law matters, with significant opportunities for trial work. The ideal candidate will have experience managing cases from initial intake through trial. This position offers a collaborative and dynamic environment that encourages professional growth and the opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of legal matters, including in‑court trial experience.
Responsibilities
Independently manage a caseload involving insurance defense, general liability, auto/transportation liability, construction (NYS Labor Law), and other litigation matters.
Handle all aspects of insurance defense litigation through trial.
Regularly conduct/defend depositions, handle court appearances, and motion practice. Effectively prepare and examine witnesses, ensuring thorough case preparation and strong representation of clients.
Work closely with other attorneys, team members, and Partners on legal projects and strategy for cases.
Communicate with clients to provide status reports, advice, and counsel regarding case developments.
Participate in trial strategy discussions and prepare trial exhibits and evidence for litigation.
Provide high‑level client service by actively managing expectations, keeping clients informed, and delivering excellent outcomes.
Qualifications
JD from an accredited law school
Admitted to practice in the State of New York
At least 8 years of defense litigation experience
Experience with construction (NYS Labor Law 200, 240, 241) matters, insurance defense, premises liability, and/or general liability
Experience appearing in court for motions, hearings, depositions, and trials
Demonstrated trial experience with personal injury, general liability, or tort cases preferred
Superior analytical skills and the ability to think critically and strategically
Strong written and oral communication skills, with experience drafting complex legal documents
Ability to manage a caseload independently and responsibly
Salary Range:
$175,000 – $200,000 USD
