Summary The Program Coordinator for our Art of Advocacy program reports to the Director of Recovery Services. They co‑lead the delivery of our three‑year, federally funded Building Communities of Recovery grant, and support programming at the Brooklyn Community Recovery Center. These programs are designed to enhance and target the Center’s engagement with the recovery community, increase social capital, improve satisfaction with participant’s neighborhood and built environments, and enhance access to care. Our program uses multi‑modal artist workshops that include, but are not limited to, weaving, wheel and hand pottery, glass blowing, therapeutic horticulture, music, photography, murals, and painting, to engage participants in community building and wellness coaching. Working with other program staff, they coordinate the planning and execution of artist workshops, wellness coaching, and participation in ongoing artist collaboratives by liaising with artists, vendors, and partner organizations for proposals, contracts, and/or linkages; conduct outreach and enroll participants; and support the management of logistics, data collection, and record keeping for the program. The Center works in service to an individual’s long‑term recovery and seeks to establish and maintain community relationships in furtherance of a community recovery vision (i.e., reduce stigma), and toward the mission and goals of the Recovery Community Outreach Center, and those of the agency‑at‑large.
This position is grant funded and ends on 6/30/26.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the recruitment and enrollment of participants, and the collection of data through the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) measurement tool.
Provides guidance and support to other staff and participants to ensure an adequate recovery care environment exists.
Facilitates independently or in coordination with other leadership, regular staff meetings to coordinate activities in accordance with the program’s goals.
Evaluates and monitors program activities (e.g., counseling, peer encounter groups, seminars and workshops, work assignments).
Liaise with internal and external colleagues to coordinate outreach, recruitment, and participation.
Co‑lead the execution of artist workshops and other program activities.
Provide recovery and/or wellness coaching to participants.
Under the guidance of the Director of Recovery Services, evaluate program effectiveness, revise the program design and/or policies and procedures, as needed.
Coordinate administrative functions and reporting, including preparing ordering supplies, informing annual budgets, controlling monthly expenses, scheduling staff and issuing required monthly reports.
Develop relationships with appropriate community agencies, coalitions, partnerships, and service providers, etc.
Collaborate with the Director of Recovery Services for developing and maintaining relationships with appropriate government agencies.
Has knowledge of New York’s artistic communities and actively participates in connecting and being present in cultural spaces.
Work with onboarding independent contractors, tracking programming budget, and working with finance department.
Plan and execute events, outreach, and logistics to co‑curate the annual art exhibition.

Work Environment
This job operates in both an indoor office and community‑based environment, and outdoors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to sit, use hands to type, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
