University of Minnesota Physicians is hiring a Certified Nurse Practitioner or Certified Physician Assistant to join our Pediatric Emergency Department practice in Minneapolis, MN. Overview
M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital is the #1 top-ranked children’s hospital in the Twin Cities. Our emergency department is located in a state‑of‑the‑art facility inside the hospital and includes two trauma/resuscitation rooms. We provide access to more than 60 pediatric specialties and have a dedicated pediatric emergency medicine department designed with kids in mind. Responsibilities
Evaluate patients and perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations. Compile patient medical data, including health history. Order diagnostic tests, including imaging, electrocardiograms, laboratory tests, and interpret test results. Perform therapeutic procedures, such as suturing, splinting, wound care, nerve blocks and other procedures appropriate for an emergency department setting. Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes and assist in provision of continuity of care. Prescribe medications, including controlled substances and medical devices. Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens. Work with a fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (Epic) to create and maintain appropriate patient records. Care for and communicate with patients, family members, co‑workers and other medical professionals. Exhibit professionalism that is the expression of positive values and ideals as care is delivered and maintain commitment to ethical principles pertaining to provision or withholding of clinical care, confidentiality of patient information, informed consent, and business practices. Your Schedule
Shifts are 10 hours per day, mainly evening shifts. Current schedule hours are 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. Rotate weekends and holidays (one in three weekends). Openings: 0.5 – 1.0 FTE. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with formal Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner training, or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Strong preference for providers with 2+ years of emergency medicine and/or pediatrics experience. Current MN RN license and approval or eligibility by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges, or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice. Certified through ANCC/AANP or eligible for ANCC/AANP national exam, or through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria for Credentialing and Privileges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional collaboration abilities. Understands and places importance on patient care/service. Detail oriented and self‑motivated.
