Federal Financial Analyst
to join our expanding firm. This position provides the opportunity for significant client interaction by learning the client's business becoming a trusted advisor. Ideal candidates will demonstrate versatility in understanding and performing work related to financial accounting for capital assets. This position is a hybrid work environment, in office one day per week, with client location in Washington DC.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support the client with preparation of Capitalization Packages for Construction in Progress (CIP) Assets
Support the client to determine the accuracy of CIP balances and Fixed Assets capitalization records by reviewing source documentation, contract files and detailed transactions lists
Submit a complete CIP capitalization package for each assigned Program that is certifiable as GAAP-compliant and fully supported
Ensure audit-acceptable documentation for valuation and/or in-service date is present in the CIP capitalization package
Coordinate with the client to obtain detailed project information for review, coordinate needed changes to accounting records, and provide recommendations on items to expense or capitalize
Support the preparation of PMDS capitalization amounts or revised capitalization amounts
Requirements Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 Years of Experience
Experience with capitalization procedures and hands‑on experience preparing and evaluating asset capitalization packages to include applicable overhead rates
Experience with transaction accounting and hands‑on experience evaluating expenditures and determining proper allocation of expenditures, upon reviewing contract files, to specific assets to ensure proper asset capitalization
Experience with financial systems and performing account reconciliations for multi‑year appropriations
Experience with account reconciliations of standard contracts, Interagency Transactions, Interagency Reimbursable Work Transactions, contract leases, utility payments and travel accounts
Experience in assessing existing internal controls and hands‑on experience managing the testing phase of internal controls
Experience with financial account formats and migrating multi‑year appropriation accounts from a legacy accounting system to a new accounting system
Desired Qualifications
Previous experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard or another DHS component
SALARY RANGE: $90,000 - $100,000
