Qualcomm
Company:
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
Job Area: Engineering Group, Engineering Group > PPT Systems Engineering
General Summary: As an entry-level engineer on the Chipset Power team, you will help define, model, and analyze power behavior for complex SoCs and systems used in next-generation mobile and compute platforms. You will contribute to power modeling infrastructure, methodology, and tools, and collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to drive power efficiency across the full stack.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain power models at the system, SoC, and core levels, enabling early power estimation and design trade‑off analysis.
Perform power analysis using simulation, modeling, and data‑driven techniques to identify optimization opportunities.
Contribute to methodology definition for power modeling, analysis flows, and reporting, helping to standardize best practices across projects.
Design, implement, and support automation tools and scripts to improve the scalability, usability, and robustness of power analysis flows.
Use ML, GenAI, and agent‑based tools to accelerate coding, data analysis, and other automation tasks within power workflows.
Work closely with cross‑functional teams (architecture, design, verification, software, and systems) to integrate power models, interpret results, and drive power‑related design decisions.
Document models, tools, and methodologies and provide guidance and support to partner teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Architectural understanding of SoC components such as CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, memory subsystems, interconnects, and peripherals.
Experience or coursework in power modeling and analysis (e.g., activity‑based power estimation, architectural power modeling, or related topics).
Solid grasp of software engineering concepts: version control, modular design, testing, and code review.
Intermediate programming skills in Python (data processing, scripting, automation, basic tools development) and C++ (performance‑sensitive or system‑level code).
Familiarity with Excel for data analysis, reporting, and visualization, and Git/GitHub for source control and collaboration.
Experience using or strong interest in ML, Generative AI, and coding agents to assist in software development and automation tasks.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
Good verbal and written communication skills for effective cross‑functional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
Coursework or projects in computer architecture, low‑power design, or VLSI/SoC design.
Experience with data analysis/visualization (e.g., pandas, NumPy, Jupyter, Tableau, or similar).
Exposure to machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit‑learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow) for modeling or analysis tasks.
Experience with scripting and automation in a Linux environment.
