Position Summary We seek a highly experienced
Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
to oversee all nursing and clinical operations within a specialized surgical hospital environment. This executive leader is accountable for clinical quality, regulatory compliance, staffing, budget oversight, operational efficiency, and alignment with organizational mission and strategy.
Ideal candidates bring strong leadership, OR experience, team‑building excellence, and the ability to drive high-performance clinical culture. Current ASC Clinical Directors with a BSN and an advanced degree (MSN, MBA, or MHA) are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities Clinical & Nursing Leadership
Develop and execute the hospital-wide
plan for nursing care , ensuring quality practices aligned with organizational mission.
Ensure continuous, timely delivery of nursing services across all departments.
Oversee staffing plans, skill mix, scheduling, and personnel assignment.
Evaluate and enhance nursing processes, ensuring evidence‑based standards of care.
Integrate current research and regulatory changes into policies and best practices.
Operational & Administrative Leadership
Act as a senior leadership partner in strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and operational goal‑setting.
Ensure adequate staff competencies, ongoing training, and performance evaluation across all clinical departments.
Lead the development and implementation of patient care programs, policies, and procedures.
Evaluate departmental performance through continuous quality improvement and performance indicators.
Collaborative & Governance Functions
Participate actively in Medical Executive Committee, Medical Staff Committees, and Board‑level meetings.
Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia, clinical directors, and executive leadership.
Serve as administrative resource for clinical leaders on budgeting, operations, HR matters, and service line performance.
Regulatory, Quality, & Performance Improvement
Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state regulations, and corporate clinical standards.
Drive process improvement initiatives to elevate patient safety, nurse satisfaction, and surgical throughput.
Support the organization in achieving its performance improvement and quality metrics.
Qualifications Education
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Required:
Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field
Experience
Required:
Minimum
5 years of progressive leadership
overseeing multiple nursing departments within a hospital or surgical environment
Preferred:
Previous experience as a
CNO
Experience within an
ambulatory surgical hospital or ASC
environment
Strong background in perioperative or OR leadership
Licensure & Certifications
Required:
Active
Texas RN License
or
Compact RN License
(Texas is part of the NLC)
Required:
AHA BLS certification
Additional leadership or specialty certifications a plus
