About the Position:
Our client, a national law firm based in the Midwest, has an active need for an energy regulatory/transactional lawyer with a portable book of business to join its Chicago office as a partner or of counsel (title will be based on level of experience). This practice provides full-service legal representation to a broad range of energy providers, utilities, independent power producers, developers, regional entities, and other energy‑sector participants across the electric, natural gas, and telecommunications industries.

Responsibilities
Advise private entities, public agencies, and individuals on legal and practical issues relating to energy and utility matters
Assist with a variety of agreements, including those related to power purchases, developer and vendor contracts, and purchase/sale of public and private entities and divisions
Provide counsel on complex commercial transactions, including transactional strategy and structure, restructuring/reorganization, and generation, transmission and distribution projects
Handle energy regulatory matters before state and federal regulatory authorities
Required Qualifications
9+ years of energy law regulatory/transactional experience
FERC regulatory, RTO (Regional Transmission Organization), and transactional experience
Exposure to MISO (Midcontinent Independent System Operator), PJM (PA‑NJ‑MD Interconnection), and/or SPP (Southwest Power Pool) is preferred
Portable book of business
Location Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
Compensation The anticipated base salary range for this position is $300,000+.
