This is a
rare opportunity to be one of Alma’s first backend engineers, owning the platform end-to-end and helping scale it by 100x alongside world-class founders.
Responsibilities
Architect, build, and scale
core backend applications
from 0 → 1
Develop and maintain
highly scalable systems
serving enterprise customers (thousands of users)
Implement and optimize
enterprise SSO (Auth0, SAML, OAuth)
integrations
Build and integrate
RESTful and GraphQL APIs
for internal and external use
Collaborate with product and frontend teams to deliver seamless user experiences
Ensure reliability, monitoring, testing, and security across the platform
Contribute to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and integration testing
Requirements Experience
2+ years
backend development experience (in B2B SaaS or high-growth startup)
5+ years
for Senior candidates
Proven track record of building
core backend systems , not just pipelines/DevOps
Experience with
enterprise-scale systems
and performance optimization
Prior work with
B2B SaaS or HR software
is strongly preferred
Education
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
For candidates with only 2+ years of experience: must have graduated from a
top 15 CS program
Hard Skills
Python expertise

Fluency with
FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and Auth0
Strong background in
API development and integrations
Comfort with
DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and integration testing
