Director of Campus Operations (Security) This leadership position provides direct service to Simpson University faculty, staff and students as well as to the public at large. Primary duties involve oversight of the campus physical plant and facilities to ensure consistently high‑quality execution, including auxiliary services, mail and copy services, rental of conference facilities to third parties, SU rental properties, short‑term on‑campus rentals, building, grounds, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems and campus safety. The role also supervises physical plant and facility capital improvements. Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills are essential characteristics. Many responsibilities require work outside normal business hours.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, Master’s degree preferred.

At least five years of contracting, building maintenance or related experience preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) and willingness to learn new programs.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, students, customers, vendors, management and board members.

Strong relationship‑building skills with demonstrated ability to lead diverse work teams.

Demonstrates integrity, strives for excellence and inspires trust.

Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Valid Class B California driver’s license.

Essential Functions

Provide overall leadership and direction for auxiliary services, mail and copy services, rentals of conference facilities to third parties, SU rental properties, short‑term on‑campus rentals, building, grounds, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems and campus safety.

Lead professional expertise and direction in creating and implementing high‑quality functions.

Oversee successful achievement of campus safety training and annual compliance reporting, including Clery Act.

Act as a marketing agent to generate revenue for the university through rentals and conference facilities.

Oversee execution of all facets of revenue‑producing campus events such as camps, seminars, special events and short‑term rentals.

Manage advertising, pricing, invoicing, coordination with other departments, employee supervision and event planning (pre‑ and post‑event).

Oversee execution of facilities and related systems for routine and special campus events.

Work closely with sponsoring departments or individuals to ensure high‑quality service.

Manage an operating budget, develop expense and revenue budgets, track performance against budget and adjust execution to meet or exceed goals.

Create client contracts and coordinate execution of revenue‑producing campus events.

Demonstrate good fiscal management skills.

Research and implement cost‑saving ideas and programs.

Provide reports and summaries as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.

Coordinate with state and federal organizations as required.

Physical Requirements Job Title: Director of Campus Operations Typical Working Conditions: Controlled indoor environment, occasional outside work in all conditions. Equipment Used: Computer, printer, fax, occasional driving. Essential Physical Tasks: Sitting at desk, occasional walking, climbing ladders, lifting/carrying, twisting/turning, driving, handling fine dexterity tasks, repetitive motion of hands and feet. Salary Range: $70,304–85,000.
