Travel Shift: 12H Days 12 hr days Unit Notes :Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.**Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles.****Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care- refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract* * RN's - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation. OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated * *Department: Med Surg ICU RN*Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS*- # of Beds: 34- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:1-2 ICU, PCU 1:4-5 and MS 1:5-6- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults and Peds >15 years old, Neuro surgery (initiating neuro interventionalist with thrombectomy program) - not required exp., Respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock (impella, balloon pump - not required exp.), renal failure (CRRT) - not required exp., general surgery, psych/OD, GI bleeds, cancer specific surgeries - esophagectomy, internal chemo administration, CVPs, Alines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring- all can train real time, Zoll -Thermoguard for hypothermia protocol, Bell Mont rapid transfuser- Are RNs required to titrate drips: Yes- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, antiarrhythmics- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift Does the charge nurse take an assignment: Yes- will attend RRTs and Codes- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit Ratios Duties: Yes- 1:18- RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot: Nasal cannula to vents- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit Are RNs required to read their own strips What brand are the tele monitors: No techs- Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry monitoring. RNs need to be able to read and interpret.- Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling Block scheduling): 0630-1830, 1830-0630 // manager will make schedule based on unit needs- Weekend Requirements: Every other- Holiday Requirements: Every other or as needed for based on unit needs- Floating Requirements: Will float to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation: 2 shifts- Additional Notes: Fast paced unit with volume flexes due to being primary tertiary hospital for the system. Attributes that will make a nurse successful on this unit are the ability ask questions, a positive attitude, willingness to help others, critical thinking skills, personable, and positive attitude. Have a team environment meant to foster high quality care and work with attendings and student providers (fellows, residents) to collaborate on care.Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions. Cancellation Policy:Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 shifts for assignments that are less than 13 weeks.
