American Traveler is seeking an experienced Stepdown/PCU RN with telemetry skills and an active IL nursing license for night shifts in a Level I Trauma Center. Responsibilities
Work in a progressive care unit (PCU) within an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital Patient population includes telemetry, neuro stepdown, cardiac, surgical, orthopedic, respiratory, and trauma cases Night shifts, three or four 12-hour shifts per week, 18:45 to 07:15 Required to work every other weekend Floats required within scope to meet facility needs Cerner EMR is used; EMR experience is preferred Provide advanced nursing care for stepdown-level and telemetry patients with complex medical and surgical needs Collaborate with rapid response and multidisciplinary teams in a teaching hospital environment Participation in care of ventilated patients, trach management, wound care, and use of isolation precautions expected Cerner charting system in use; experience is preferred but not required Solid color scrubs are permitted Must be available to cover no more than 5 days of requested time off Parking permit provided at no cost Local candidates are accepted with no radius restrictions Requirements
Active IL RN license required at time of application Minimum 1 year of recent experience in telemetry, neuro stepdown, PCU, DOU, or IMC required Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including dysrhythmia interpretation and rapid response participation Experience with post-cardiac procedures, sheath removal, and vascular/cardiac drips required Proficiency in neuro, orthopedic, respiratory, plastic surgery, GI, genitourinary, IV, and medication administration within stepdown/PCU setting No first-time travelers accepted Benefits
