Director, HR Business Partner – U.S. Commercial Location: Foster City, CA (hybrid/office based). Reports to the Executive Director of Human Resources for Gilead U.S. Commercial.

Responsibilities

Partner with senior business leaders and Commercial Vice Presidents to translate strategic objectives into actionable people plans.

Drive workforce strategies that promote an inclusive, high‑performing culture and align with Gilead’s core behaviors.

Provide strategic HR expertise on organizational design, talent management, capability building, and change management.

Advises company management on HR policy and program matters, making complex decisions and presenting recommendations.

Lead employee and manager engagement initiatives to foster teamwork and enhance employee engagement.

Maintain external knowledge of legislative changes and industry trends.

Manage a team of HR specialists, hiring, coaching, and evaluating staff to ensure efficient operation of the function.

Design, develop, and implement communication strategy using various media to ensure effective two‑way communication.

Qualifications

12+ years of relevant experience in HR with a BA or BS degree; master’s degree preferred.

Strong business knowledge and advanced understanding of labor relations and union negotiation rules.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proven influencing skills and the ability to develop solutions to complex problems.

Experience managing staff and exercising judgment within defined HR policies and procedures.

Self‑initiated, works with minimal direct supervision, and performs long‑range goals and objectives.

Benefits & Compensation Salary Range: $210,375.00 – $272,250.00. This position may also be eligible for discretionary annual bonus, stock‑based long‑term incentives, paid time off, and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
