Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate the definition of future concepts for modeling, simulation, and analysis
Act as a subject matter expert in future concept definition, architecture analyses, and reviewing preliminary results prior to delivery to the customer
Assess MDS threats, capability gaps, challenges, needs, and opportunities, and develop potential system mitigations and capability revolutions and evolutions at the architecture level
Support modeling & simulation (M&S) efforts related to the above, including analysis efforts on DoD High‑Performance Computing (HPC)
Develop analysis plans, run M&S to execute the analysis plan, perform analysis on the results, prepare analysis reports, and provide reviews of analysis products
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in STEM Field with 12+ years of experience in missile defense‑related or other complex, large DoD program/project
Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
Extensive experience in the modeling, assessment, and evaluation of future missile defense architectures
Deep understanding of the current Missile Defense System architecture and future concepts
Desired
Active TS/SCI Clearance
Experience with the definition and use of advanced concepts and algorithms for the M&S of MDS architectures
Experience with M&S and analysis of MDS architectures involving both directed and kinetic energy weapons and other future concepts
Ability to develop and use MDS architecture simulations; knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python is a plus, including HPC experience and/or MBSE experience
Experience supporting systems engineering‑related architecture design activities
Ability to perform technology assessment & analysis and provide insight on the utility of potentially useful technologies
Experience with multidisciplinary analysis and optimization environments, including analysis of diverse physical phenomena
Specialized MDS analysis experience in: threat characterization, trajectories, RF sensing/signatures, and/or EO/IR sensing/signatures
Proven ability to coauthor numerous reports and provide significant contributions to MDS studies and responses to Congress
Experience with Cyber gaps, mitigations, and future Cyber Architecture development
Experience serving as a key advisor and collaborating on products that may go outside the Agency, such as DoD, Services, Combatant Commands, industry experts, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work independently, as a team member, or leading teams/tasks, applying engineering rigor to solve engineering/scientific problems.
In‑depth practical and theoretical technical/engineering knowledge.
Working knowledge of missile defense system components and mission.
Familiarity with DOD and MDA processes and procedures.
Ability to work in a high‑paced environment while coordinating with multiple organizations and leadership.
Proficient with Microsoft software applications.
Ability to execute and complete tasks with no supervision.
Ability to travel 20‑25% to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
