Director of Recruiting Metal Stamping | Professional Recruiter Certification Metal Stamping Quality Engineer
Job Description Position Summary
The Metal Stamping Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that stamped metal components meet internal quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role supports production through defect prevention, root‑cause analysis, continuous improvement, and close collaboration with manufacturing, tooling, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems for metal stamping operations
Lead
APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plan
activities for new and existing programs
Perform
root cause analysis
(8D, 5‑Why, Fishbone) for internal and customer quality issues
Support production by troubleshooting quality issues related to tooling, materials, and processes
Analyze
SPC data
and process capability (Cp/Cpk) to drive continuous improvement
Conduct internal audits and support customer and third‑party audits (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949)
Review and approve
first article inspections (FAI)
and production part approvals
Collaborate with tooling, engineering, and maintenance to reduce scrap, rework, and downtime
Manage customer complaints, corrective actions, and documentation
Train operators and inspectors on quality standards, inspection methods, and defect recognition
Support supplier quality activities and incoming material inspections as needed
Required Skills & Knowledge
Strong understanding of
metal stamping processes
(progressive, transfer, blanking, forming)
Experience with
GD&T
and blueprint interpretation
Proficiency in quality tools:
SPC, MSA, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, Control Plans
Knowledge of
ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
standards
Familiarity with inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM, optical comparators)
Ability to work effectively in fast‑paced, high‑volume manufacturing environments
Strong documentation, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–5+ years of quality engineering experience in metal stamping or similar manufacturing
Automotive or high‑volume production experience preferred
Seniority level Mid‑Senior level
