The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department of Anesthesiology has an opening for a full‑time Obstetric Anesthesiologist at the faculty rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to join our Obstetric Anesthesia Section. The chief responsibility of the department is to assure the best possible outcomes for our patients having surgical operations, painful invasive procedures, and childbirth. The University of Colorado affiliated hospitals have top nationally recognized physicians delivering the best possible anesthetic care as well as a full range of peri‑operative care. The anesthesiologist provides specialized care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Key Responsibilities

Administer care alone or supervise physicians‑in‑training (residents), certified registered nurse anesthetists and certified anesthesiologist assistants. When working alone, examine the patient before and after anesthesia, write pre‑ and post‑anesthesia orders, confirm that the patient is ready for anesthesia before induction, manage the anesthetic period, and follow the patient as appropriate in the post‑anesthesia period. Provide comprehensive anesthesia care for high‑risk obstetric patients, including labor analgesia, managing peri‑operative care during obstetric procedures, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal maternal and fetal outcomes. Provide solo obstetric and fetal anesthesia care at the Colorado Fetal Care Center located at the Children’s Hospital Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus. Participate in clinical education and potential leadership roles in various academic and clinical settings. Operate in the operating room, in the labor and delivery area, in radiology, and in the outpatient procedure center. Contribute to teaching needs of the Department and the School, including preparing and delivering lectures, serving as a preceptor, and providing one‑on‑one instruction.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below. Assistant Professor:

All attending anesthesiologists must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado. All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiologists (“board eligible”) or a Diplomat of the Board, or to be holding certification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Applicants must be fellowship‑trained in obstetric anesthesiology. Associate Professor:

Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado. All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiologists (“board eligible”) or a Diplomat of the Board, or to be holding certification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Must meet the SOM's requirements for Associate Professor rank. If hired at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, the candidate's title will be designated “Visiting,” and the candidate will be required to submit their dossier through the promotions process in order to remove the “visiting” designation. Applicants must be fellowship‑trained in obstetric anesthesiology. Professor:

Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado. All are expected to be either in the examination process of the American Board of Anesthesiologists (“board eligible”) or a Diplomat of the Board, or to be holding certification of foreign training that is recognized as equivalent to its diploma by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong working and theoretical knowledge of Anesthesiology and Peri‑operative Medicine.

Anticipated Pay Range

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

$330,165 - $345,690 . The base salary range/rate (or hiring range/rate) has been established based on faculty rank and is intended to compensate for scheduled daily clinical work, Monday through Friday. The above salaries are base‑salary only and do not include variable compensation, such as call and incentive pay.
