Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks to fill a Semiconductor Process Integration Engineer position within our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL). ATL is located just outside of Baltimore, MD - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production as well as emerging programs. We have over 21,000 square feet of Class 100 wafer fabrication cleanroom that supports variants of Si; SiGe; GaAs; SiC.
At Northrop Grumman’s Advanced Technology Lab, the process integration team works on both production and development programs, troubleshooting and process improvements. Many team members simultaneously handle multiple products/programs, and the group is an integral part of the foundry process, interfacing daily with multiple other foundry groups.
Roles And Responsibilities
Focus on Superconducting Electronics and connect with multiple advanced technologies.
Engineer semiconductor process integration, especially in Back End of Line (BEOL) process integration with yield improvement and defect reduction.
Perform hands‑on laboratory and experimental work.
Collaborate with program execution within the Micro Systems Technologies portfolio.
Communicate results verbally and in writing with excellence.
Support 2nd shift operations (Sunday–Wednesday 2-10 pm EST) and interface across 24-7 shifts.
Basic Qualifications For Principal Semiconductor Process Integration Engineer
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Microelectronics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or closely related STEM major with 5 years of relevant experience; Master’s degree with 3 years of experience; PhD with 1 year of experience.
Understanding of basic semiconductor processing, especially BEOL process integration.
Experience with DOE, JMP and statistical analysis.
Experience working with large datasets.
Prior process improvement experience.
Ability to work the 2nd shift (Sunday–Wednesday 2-10 pm EST).
Experience interfacing with multiple 24-7 shifts.
Must obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Basic Qualifications For Senior Principal Semiconductor Process Integration Engineer
Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience; Master’s with 6 years; PhD with 4 years.
All qualifications listed for Principal level.
Preferred Qualifications For Senior Principal Semiconductor Process Integration Engineer
TS/SCI clearance.
Semiconductor processing, analog and microwave electronics circuits experience.
FEOL, BEOL, Far-BEOL semiconductor fabrication experience.
Experience analyzing devices (MOSFETs, Josephson Junctions).
Salary and Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800 – $163,200 Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800 – $203,600
