Garver Engineering
Senior Structural Engineer
Location: Greenville, South Carolina
As a member of Greenville's growing Water Design Center, you will develop structural designs in support of water and wastewater treatment projects and related facilities. You will lead a project team of junior engineers, designers, and technicians to produce plans and specifications and manage workload on various Water Business Line projects.
This role will focus on structural support for a variety of water and wastewater projects, primarily developing designs for new treatment plants or improvements to existing facilities.
This position will be responsible for performing numerous structural design tasks related to water and wastewater facilities, such as:
Leading a project team producing structural designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, tanks, vaults, and other ancillary structures associated with water and sewer infrastructure projects
Typical designs will include treatment process basins, chemical facilities, administration buildings, retaining walls, and other supporting structures.
The structural group will be responsible for design calculations, coordination with other disciplines, coordination with regional offices and regulating agencies, construction cost estimating, and quality assurance and control.
Assist the Structural Group Leader in managing and mentoring teams, coordinating schedules, monitoring budgets, and ensuring delivery of quality work products that adhere to Garver standards.
Some travel may be required, as projects may require field work for site assessment of project locations and support during construction.
Primary responsibilities of the Senior Structural Engineer will include:
Leading a project team in the production of structural designs with a great deal of autonomy
Ensuring quality program compliance, including delivery of work products that adhere to Garver standardization
Working within a multi-disciplined team (civil, process, mechanical, electrical, and I&C) of engineers, designers, and technicians in the development of various Water Business Line projects
Managing multiple projects concurrently
Managing time and ensuring work product quality
Mentoring, equipping, training, and developing junior team members to become effective design professionals and undertake increasingly complex assignments and responsibilities as they grow
Due to the collaborative nature of coordination for large infrastructure projects, candidates must seek out and resolve issues through close interaction with other project team members. They must maintain a positive team attitude and interpersonal effectiveness to recruit, develop, and maintain an efficient and productive structural team.
