Position Overview The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center are seeking a Urologic Hospitalist to join the Department of Urology. The role involves providing comprehensive inpatient care for patients with acute and chronic urological conditions, diagnosing, treating, and managing a variety of urological disorders, and directing the urology inpatient consult service extending to the Emergency Room and Operating Room. The position is supported by a mid-level urology resident and two advanced practice providers.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs surgical procedures where assigned.

Provides direct and indirect patient care services in the inpatient setting.

Interview, obtain and review medical history of patients; perform physical examinations to assess medical or surgical needs; order special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services; respond to consultation requests; determine, prescribe and implement treatment plans and/or medications required; document all services and instructions in the medical record; educate patients and promote wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials, resources and services; respond and maintain open communication with referring physicians.

Maintains accurate and detailed medical records for all patients, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Participate in peer reviews and audits to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained.

Participate in hospital quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and outcomes in the urology department.

Ensures continuing medical educational requirements are met; participates in department, college, and medical center committees and other service activities.

Serves as preceptor and provides training of residents, fellows, and students, as well as other members of the health professions team including advanced practice providers.

Performs other duties and/or call assignments as defined by the Chair or her designees.

Requirements

Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).

Licensed or license eligible for State of Ohio and DEA licensure.

Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Urology.

Qualify for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with residents, faculty members, and other stakeholders.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Commitment to maintaining high standards of resident education and fostering a positive learning environment.
