POSITION SUMMARY The Equipment Maintenance Technician II reports directly to the Engineering Manager or Production Supervisor and is responsible for the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of highly complex and automated manufacturing equipment. This role performs both minor and major routine maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM), and repair activities to support production efficiency, quality, uptime, and waste reduction. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment while supporting operational goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform routine setup, operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of highly automated manufacturing equipment
Conduct mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical repairs, adjustments, inspections, and monitoring
Analyze, diagnose, and repair complex equipment and machinery using judgment and consultation
Support production, quality, downtime reduction, and waste minimization goals
Use independent judgment to plan, perform, troubleshoot, and resolve maintenance issues
Work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining a positive and professional attitude
Make effective decisions related to equipment maintenance and operational needs
KNOWLEDGE AND BASIC SKILLS Strong time management skills to ensure timely task completion
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Advanced mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting skills
Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics
Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications
Flexibility to work on a variety of equipment, processes, and assignments
Working knowledge of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments
Ability to maintain constant mental and visual focus while performing moderately complex tasks with tight tolerances
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Proficiency with PCs, including MS Excel and MS Word
Strong experience maintaining and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components
Ability to read and interpret complex automated system drawings
Demonstrated aptitude in hydraulics and pneumatics
Proficiency using multimeters
Knowledge of sensor technology
Basic plumbing skills (fluid and pneumatic systems)
Experience with power transmission systems, including gearboxes, motors, belts, and chain drives
Electrical troubleshooting experience ranging from low-level signals up to 480 VAC
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience troubleshooting Industrial Control Systems (instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, VFDs, servos)
Demonstrated knowledge of PLC operations, robotics, and vision systems
Mechanical design experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
Experience with SAP maintenance modules or equivalent computerized maintenance systems
Basic machining and fabrication skills, including mill, lathe, welding, and bearing press
