We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide locum services in an ICU setting in San Diego, CA.
This is an excellent opportunity for an APP with strong acute care experience looking for daytime coverage starting February 9, 2026.
Job Details:
Specialty: Primary Care ICU
Setting: Acute Care Hospital
Schedule:
Full-time, Monday Friday
Day shifts: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (8-hour shifts)
On-call coverage required
Contract Length: ongoing (potential to extend)
Start Date: February 9, 2026
Responsibilities:
Provide care for patients across the lifespan (ages 6 months and up) in an acute care ICU setting
Perform minor procedures including sutures, casts, and splints
Conduct preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays
Facilitate admissions, treatment, and discharge planning
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams
Requirements:
Active Nurse Practitioner license (California preferred)
Board Certification required (ANCC or AANP for NPs; NCCPA for PAs)
Master s degree required
DEA and furnishing license required
Minimum qualifications:
1 year of full-time Emergency Medicine experience OR
2 years of Urgent Care experience OR
2 years of Family Medicine experience
Comfortable managing acute care patients and performing minor procedures
Credentialing:
Estimated timeframe: days
Completion of facility-specific forms and verifications required
Interview with department leadership
