Job Title: Developer Premium III - SAP ECC / S/4HANA RAP Technical Developer
Location: Washington, DC (100% Onsite from Day 1)
Duration: 6 Months with long term extension
Background
Client is undergoing a multi‑year, multi‑stage transformation from SAP ECC on‑premise to SAP S/4HANA on‑premise. The program involves a large volume of custom ABAP code built to support specialized business processes.
Responsibilities
- Stage 1: Adapt existing code for compatibility with S/4HANA simplified data structures and programming model.
- Stage 2: Re‑engineer using clean‑core principles and cloud‑ready ABAP (strict ABAP) within S/4HANA leveraging frameworks such as RAP, CDS, and AMDP.
- Stage 3: Shift selected components to SAP BTP using side‑by‑side extensibility where it provides architectural or scalability benefits.
- Techno‑functional role requiring strong hands‑on development capabilities combined with deep process understanding. Interpret functional requirements, participate in fit‑gap assessments, and independently deliver scalable, upgrade‑safe solutions aligned with SAP architecture.
- End‑to‑end accountability from technical design and performance optimization to security adaptation and clean extensibility.
- Candidate must be a confident problem‑solver, effective collaborator across business and IT teams, and demonstrate capabilities through a hands‑on coding assessment during the evaluation process.
Minimum Requirements
- 15+ years of SAP ABAP development in ECC.
- 7+ years of S/4HANA development experience.
Core Technical Requirements
- ABAP (on ECC & S/4HANA) with RAP (ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model) experience for designing and building upgrade‑safe services and UIs.
- Proficiency with CDS views, OData, and performance‑optimized data models.
- Familiarity with Fiori/UI5 development and integration patterns; experience on BTP is a plus.
- Ability to interpret functional requirements, perform fit‑gap, and take end‑to‑end ownership from technical design through delivery.
