Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Scientist to join our diabetes team. This role focuses on iPSC gene editing and stem cell engineering to advance next‑generation islet cell therapies. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience in human iPSC culture, gene editing, molecular biology techniques, and assay development.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine iPSC culture, passaging, and media preparation.
- Develop and optimize CRISPR‑based gene‑editing workflows, including gRNA design and delivery.
- Generate and characterize clonal gene‑edited iPSC lines using flow cytometry, PCR, ddPCR, dPCR, and NGS.
- Execute directed differentiation of iPSCs into pancreatic islets and assess drug substance parameters (cell counts, viability, metabolite measurements).
- Support assay development for on‑/off‑target analysis and drug substance evaluation.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to transfer R&D assays to GMP environments.
- Maintain detailed records, prepare reports, and contribute to SOP development.
- Execute workplans efficiently, meeting deadlines and supporting team goals.
Qualifications
Required:
- B.S. in Stem Cell Biology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or related field with 3–4 years of relevant industry experience, or M.S. with 1–2 years of experience.
- Hands‑on experience with human iPSC culture, gene editing, and molecular biology techniques.
- Proficiency in CRISPR gene editing, construct design, PCR‑based assays, and flow cytometry.
- Experience with assay development (luciferase, ELISA, flow cytometry) and gene editing delivery methods.
- Strong organizational skills, accurate record‑keeping, and excellent communication.
Preferred:
- Experience in pancreatic islet directed differentiation.
- Familiarity with transitioning research‑grade processes to GMP‑grade.
- Experience with electronic lab notebooks (ELN).
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Additional Information
Position is Full Time, Monday‑Friday, 8am‑5pm with occasional weekends (on a rotational basis to support cell culture). Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA are encouraged to apply.
