GIS Analyst / Survey Technician
Working at AMT Engineering, this dual role will involve GIS and survey assignments in our Herndon, VA office. The position will include geo‑referencing property plat images, GIS data input, survey computations, preparation of topographic and boundary surveys, as‑built surveys, record drawings and easement plats, and optional field survey data collection.
Base Pay Range
$27.00/hr – $35.00/hr, based on skills and experience.
Responsibilities
Perform GIS activities: georeferencing, creating spatial features, and developing databases.
Provide CAD drafting using GIS application software.
Support survey project manager and perform survey computations for deed composites.
Process topographic and boundary survey data files and prepare finished drawings.
Prepare easement and right‑of‑way drawings and legal descriptions.
Produce as‑built survey drawings.
Conduct property, deed, and plat research.
Other duties as assigned by the licensed surveyor.
Qualifications
High School Diploma; preference for 2‑ or 4‑year degree in survey, geography, or engineering.
At least 2 years of surveying and/or GIS experience.
Ability to read and understand property plats, maps, engineering plans, and architectural plans.
Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD), GIS (ArcGIS Pro), and survey software; experience with MicroStation is a plus.
Proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Strong team player who can manage multiple concurrent assignments and work overtime when necessary.
