Description This will be a 6‑9 month fixed contract needed to support automation within the business office. Contract needs may extend longer. The role is 100% remote, but applicants must reside in Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin.

Key Requirements

RN with 2‑3 years experience as a Clinical Documentation Integrity RN in the acute care inpatient setting with an adult patient population.

Experience collaborating with clinicians, coding staff, and CDI leaders on clinical documentation to improve data integrity.

Epic experience required.

Responsible for concurrent review of medical records to ensure complete and accurate documentation supporting severity of illness, risk of mortality, and hospital reimbursement.

Strong attention to detail, process orientation, and the ability to think globally about documentation requirements.

Effective oral and written communication with physicians and other clinicians to promote accurate and complete documentation throughout patient care.

Supports hospital compliance efforts for accurate diagnosis and procedural coding, DRG assignment, SOI, and ROM.

Highly demanding role; not a relaxed work‑from‑home opportunity.

Daily Duties

Conduct record reviews to facilitate the creation of a health record that accurately represents patient acuity and resources used.

Ensure diagnostic coding supports all applicable diagnosis codes and works with DRG assignment.

Utilize a compliant query process, following each query to closure with complete documentation.

Maintain integrity and compliance of record reviews, documentation, and queries.

Use UnityPoint Health’s CDI software and processes (worksheet, workflow, query, DRG reconciliation).

Meet minimum productivity and quality assurance standards set by the CDI department.

Collaborate with coding staff and leaders to improve understanding of coding guidelines.

Collaborate with physicians and hospital staff to coordinate work and resolve issues.

Collaborate with CDI leaders for feedback and direction.

Collaborate with other hospital departments as directed by CDI leaders.

Skills Required

Registered Nurse Certification.

Clinical Documentation Integrity RN experience in an adult acute care setting – 3 years.

Experience collaborating with clinicians, coding staff, and CDI leaders on medical records/charting.

Epic experience required.

Work‑from‑home space required.

Experience Level Intermediate Level

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 – $41.00/hr.
