We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to anchor our modeling work and help build the firm’s analytical approach.
Role Overview The Lead Data Scientist will own the design, development, and deployment of statistical and predictive models used to inform campaign strategy, voter targeting, and messaging. This is a senior, hands‑on role based in our Alexandria, Virginia office, working closely with leadership and analysts.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement predictive models for polling, turnout, persuasion, and voter behavior
Lead model development using Python and modern data science libraries
Clean, process, and analyze large political and survey datasets
Translate analytical results into clear, actionable insights for non‑technical stakeholders
Partner with leadership on research design, methodology, and product direction
Establish best practices for modeling, validation, and documentation
Mentor and guide junior analysts as the team grows
Required Skills & Experience
Advanced proficiency in Python for data science
Strong foundation in statistical modeling and applied analytics
Experience building predictive or inferential models from real‑world data
Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex analytical work
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in political data, polling, campaigns, or advocacy analytics
Experience working with voter files or large‑scale behavioral datasets
Knowledge in R or SQL
Mission Alignment

Comfort working in a partisan, mission‑driven organization
