Position Summary The Senior Project Engineer leads complex engineering projects within a manufacturing and machining environment, with an emphasis on process improvement, equipment modernization, and new technology implementation. This role requires strong technical depth, structured project execution, and the ability to align engineering initiatives with operational and strategic objectives. The position serves as a technical leader and project owner from concept through deployment, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule targets are met.
Job‑Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and timelines from concept through implementation.
Lead technical execution of projects by conducting design reviews, validating engineering accuracy, and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Apply disciplined project management practices to improve workflow efficiency and team performance.
Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders including operations, maintenance, quality, and product teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Advocate for required resources and support capital investment proposals, representing engineering perspectives to leadership and key stakeholders.
Manage capital and operating expenditures (CAPEX) through effective budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
Track and evaluate return on investment (ROI) for capital assets and assess operational spending efficiency, adjusting strategies as needed.
Partner with maintenance, production, and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical and process‑related issues.
Develop, maintain, and control project documentation such as scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
Ensure all projects comply with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and internal standards.
Evaluate, select, and integrate new technologies, automation solutions, and equipment upgrades.
Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to engineers, technicians, and interns.
Support long‑range capital planning, project justification, and prioritization efforts.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of five years of progressive engineering experience, including demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
Strong technical foundation with knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing systems, project management methodologies, and quality standards.
Proven experience managing projects, resources, budgets, schedules, and risk.
Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and project management tools.
Experience in heavy manufacturing or industrial production environments preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent training is desirable.
