The Salesforce Release Engineer/Manager will own the discipline of release, deployment, and environment management for our Salesforce delivery practice. You will define, implement, and sustain robust processes, tooling, and governance that enable frequent, high-quality releases into enterprise Salesforce orgs. You will partner with Delivery Leads, Technical Architects, Developers, QA, DevOps and client stakeholders to manage sandbox strategy, version control, CI/CD pipelines, packaging and deployment, release calendars, post-release operations and rollback/contingency planning.
This is a primarily remote position, but candidates must reside in the DMV area to support occasional in‑person client and team engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to‑end Salesforce release management for a federal defense program, ensuring all deployments align with DoD cybersecurity, audit, and configuration‑management standards.
Define and manage a secure, compliant ALM strategy including version control, sandbox strategy, branching/merging, and release governance.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines appropriate for controlled defense environments using SFDX, Metadata API, Git‑based workflows, and approved DevOps tools.
Oversee all Salesforce environments (DEV, QA, UAT, staging, production), enforcing principles of least privilege, separation of duties, and strict governance.
Manage release calendars, change‑freeze periods, communications, deployment checklists, and documentation required in a federal change‑control process (e.g., CAB approvals, audit logs).
Execute deployments using packages, metadata deployments, and automated pipelines; ensure all testing, security scanning, and regression steps are completed.
Maintain configuration control: capture any production‑level changes (hotfixes) and ensure they are incorporated back into version control for audit completeness.
Partner with Architects, Developers, QA, Cybersecurity, and Government Product Owners to ensure secure, timely, and reliable releases.
Provide release documentation, change records, rollback plans, and audit‑ready artifacts aligned with federal program requirements.
Monitor Salesforce seasonal releases and communicate impacts to the defense client, including security implications and required readiness activities.
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship required
Ability to maintain a DoD security clearance
Bachelor’s degree
3–5+ years of experience in Salesforce release engineering, DevOps, or ALM roles
Deep understanding of Salesforce development lifecycle, metadata types, and deployment models (org‑based and package‑based)
Expert‑level knowledge of:
Salesforce release management best practices
Sandbox/environment strategy
Git‑based version control and merge strategies
CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce (SFDX, Ant, CI tools)
Unlocked/managed packages, scratch orgs, API‑based deployments
Experience managing releases in secure or regulated environments (DoD, DHS, FedRAMP High, or similar)
Familiarity with risk‑based deployment planning, rollback procedures, and operational readiness reviews
Strong communication skills and ability to interface with technical and non‑technical federal stakeholders
Ability to produce audit‑ready artifacts and comply with strict CM/QA processes
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Platform Development Lifecycle and Deployment Architects
Salesforce Certified Administrator, Platform App Builder, and/or Platform Developer I
Prior experience with DoD programs, DISA SRG IL2–IL5, FedRAMP, NIST 800‑53, or federal change‑control processes
Experience with Salesforce in a multi‑org or enterprise defense environment
Flexible work from home options available.
