Program Director – MS Mental Health Counseling (Michigan Resident)
Join Baker College as a Program Director of Counseling, leading our MS Mental Health Counseling program with a vision of academic excellence and student‑first outcomes. This leadership role requires strategic direction, compliance oversight, faculty mentoring, and a commitment to the mission and values of Baker College.
Responsibilities The Program Director will:
Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the counseling program, aligning it with the college’s mission and goals.
Ensure academic quality, relevance, curriculum assessment, accreditation compliance, and continuous improvement of program outcomes.
Collaborate with the dean, faculty, and staff to support program quality and foster a culture of compliance, collaboration, and integrity.
Mentor and support faculty, staff, and students, driving program success and maintaining a student‑centric academic environment.
Maintain a culture of compliance and uphold accreditation standards (especially CACREP).
Qualifications
Earned doctoral degree in counselor education or a related field, preferably from a CACREP‑accredited program.
Alternatively, a related doctoral degree with at least one full academic year of full‑time faculty experience in a counseling program before July 1, 2013.
Alternatively, full‑time doctoral‑level faculty experience in a CORE‑accredited master’s program prior to July 1, 2017.
Alternatively, graduation from a rehabilitation doctoral program prior to January 1, 2018.
Core Faculty Member Requirements
Maintain active memberships in recognized professional counseling organizations.
Possess relevant professional counseling credentials.
Provide evidence of ongoing professional involvement by meeting at least two of the following:
Participation in professional development and renewal activities related to counseling.
Engagement in professional service and advocacy within the counseling field.
Maintenance of an ongoing counseling practice.
Contribution to research and scholarly activities in counseling appropriate to faculty responsibilities.
Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will bring a collaborative, innovative approach and a deep passion for educational excellence, with proven experience in academic administration—program or clinical coordination, teaching, advising, and supervision within a CACREP‑accredited counseling program. They should have expertise in developing CACREP self‑studies and maintaining accreditation standards.
