Key Responsibilities:

The market transaction analyst is a critical analytical and compliance-focused role that helps ensure the seamless and accurate flow of data within the complex, deregulated Texas energy market.

JOB DESCRIPTION Salary Grade: G08

$61,035- $80,872- $100,709

SUMMARY: Acts as liaison between Texas New Mexico Power and all market participants in the Texas de-regulated electric industry. Provides root cause analysis and resolution of market transaction problems and issues. Provides billing analysis to resolve errors, discrepancies, and disputes. Answers market participant questions and responds to issues to ensure transactions are completed successfully. Participates in retail market groups to better understand changing market rules, processes, and procedures and to ensure TNMP acts appropriately.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Extracts and analyzes transactions; updates and maintains TNMP databases by reviewing and extracting market data from TML Portal

Acts as the functional expert on market operations and Retail Market Guide and acts as the subject matter expert on all market transactions and internal business processes

Responds to various data requests, produces metric reports, and provides ad hoc data extracts

Participates in a variety of moderately advanced, concurrent, and variable duration operational and market projects

Guarantees the integrity of transactional and billing data and provides analytical support for market synchronization; provides billing analysis to correct or adjust due to transactional errors or disputes

Monitors and reports abnormal Marketrak issues

Monitors extreme weather conditions and issues weather moratoriums when conditions meet those defined in TNMP tariff

Acts as the primary liaison between TNMP and ERCOT to ensure TNMP meets all requirements and conditions of load profiling

Administers profiling assignment process to ensure accuracy of the ERCOT settlement process

Attends Load Profiling Working Group meetings and maintains a current knowledge of ERCOT protocols to ensure processes are within guidelines

Amends customer profiles when inaccuracies are identified or there is a change in customer status

Assists in research and resolution of incomplete or missing EDI transactions between TNMP and other market participants; assists in analysis of EDI transaction format and data errors

Participates in market tests for new and updated Retail Electric Providers

COMPETENCIES:

In-depth knowledge of ERCOT Retail Market Guide, ERCOT load profile requirements, ERCOT annual validation requirements, and ERCOT transaction protocols

In-depth knowledge of TNMP policies and procedures and billing processes

Working knowledge of TEXAS SET rules and guidelines

Working knowledge of database structures and database query tools

Working knowledge of Marketrak system and procedures and protocols

Ability to effectively handle concurrent assignments

Ability to make sound decisions that support the Company's goals and missions as they pertain to market requirements

QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, with one to three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Ability to communicate professionally and accurately with all market participants

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software

ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit up to 2/3 of the time and to stand, walk, and stoop up to 1/3 of the time. Good vision and ability to adjust focus is required. Manual dexterity is required. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
