About the Role
Join Salesforce as a Senior Software Engineer focused on Database Infrastructure. In this position, you will operate and enhance a large, highly‑available database stack, develop self‑service tooling for cross‑team use, and collaborate with engineering groups on their storage needs. You will also participate in on‑call rotations, contribute to incident triage, and support FedRAMP and DoD SRG activities. Operate and enhance our large, highly‑available database infrastructure, utilizing technologies such as MySQL and Vitess. Develop self‑service tools that enable other teams to manage databases, accelerating feature delivery. Collaborate with engineering teams on their database storage needs and advise through the development lifecycle. Write code to capture database performance and create tools and dashboards that provide actionable insights. Participate in the on‑call rotation and work with operations to triage and resolve production issues. Support FedRAMP and DoD SRG activities. Qualifications
5+ years of experience in data storage, core infrastructure, or distributed system ownership. Professional experience with Go, PHP/Hacklang, Python, Ruby, or Java. Write code that is clear, maintainable, and easily understood by colleagues; collaborate on integrating new platform features. Operated at least one distributed system at scale, e.g., MySQL/Postgres, Kafka, Cassandra, or ElasticSearch. Deployed and operated server software on Linux, debugging performance and optimizing systems. Experience operating cloud infrastructure, especially AWS. Familiar with deployment automation or configuration management tools such as Chef, Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet. Strong communicator, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences. Core Infrastructure Highlights
