The Director of Operations will lead and coordinate all facets of the company’s supply chain and operational workflow, including purchasing, order processing, receiving, manufacturing, and outbound logistics. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, supervising departmental teams, and guiding the long-term strategic direction of the plant. Additional responsibilities include oversight of preventive maintenance programs, equipment and facility repairs, new equipment installation, and companywide safety initiatives.

Director of Operations Responsibilities

Direct daily operational activities across production, scheduling, purchasing, order processing, shipping, and receiving. Establish strategic objectives, provide leadership, and implement process improvements across departments.

Lead and mentor direct reports, conduct performance reviews, ensure adequate staffing, verify training needs are met, and ensure adherence to work instructions.

Partner with customer service, production, and shipping to ensure timely completion and delivery of customer orders, maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction.

Manage inventory levels and collaborate with scheduling, production, shipping, accounting, customer service, and purchasing to determine appropriate stock levels based on current demand.

Coordinate scheduled physical inventory counts, investigate variances, and develop plans for reworking, returning, or scrapping obsolete or damaged inventory.

Oversee the company’s safety program, maintain safety documentation, and conduct employee safety training. Manage raw material SDS, hazardous materials disposal, container recycling, and plant waste management.

Participate in strategic planning efforts, including SWOT analysis, budgeting, capital expenditure planning, sales forecasting, and organizational initiatives.

Maintain ERP system accessibility and functionality.

Collaborate with the CEO on facility layout, building design, and execution of expansion projects.

Oversee building and grounds maintenance including security, HVAC, plumbing, housekeeping, snow removal, and lawn care as well as the preventive maintenance program and major equipment repairs or purchases.

Provide hands‑on support in production batching when needed due to workload demands.

Assist customer service with order processing during peak workload periods.

Director of Operations Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with coursework in supply chain management, lean manufacturing, project management, chemistry, or chemical engineering.

Minimum of 10 years in warehouse management; experience with hazardous batch blending and ISO 9001 is preferred.

Valid D.O.T., IATA, and IMDG certifications required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Tow Motor certification also required within 90 days.

Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and Adobe or comparable software.

Familiarity with inventory systems and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, JIT, or Six Sigma is preferred.
