Linux System Administrator
At Boeing’s Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space and Launch Organization, we are seeking an early‑career Linux System Administrator to support proprietary programs in Seal Beach, CA. The role involves installation, configuration, and maintenance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and AWS environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and compliance with advanced security directives such as JSIG and RMF.
Responsibilities
Assist with installation, configuration, and management of RHEL and AWS environments.
Collaborate with teams to integrate AWS services, enhancing system capabilities and operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with security directives, including the Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
Support system lifecycle management activities—provisioning, patching, and maintenance of RHEL environments.
Perform user administration to manage access in accordance with security policies and support problem resolution.
Engage in on‑the‑job training, including self‑study, mentorship, and hands‑on learning to develop skills in Linux and cloud technologies.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support program objectives in an Agile environment.
Basic Qualifications
Active Top Secret with SCI U.S. Security Clearance (TS/SCI) or completed a Tier 5 investigation within the past 5 years.
Experience working with Linux (RHEL).
Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and administering Linux (RHEL) servers or workstations.
Ability to obtain security certifications such as Security+ (Sec+) or equivalent IAT Level 2 certifications per DoD Instruction 8570/8140.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non‑U.S. equivalent qualifications directly related to the work, preferably ABET‑accredited.
Preferred Qualifications
Cybersecurity experience or knowledge.
Threat management experience or knowledge.
Security hardening experience or knowledge.
User access and identity management experience or knowledge.
Education & Experience Levels
Level 1:
Acquisition of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
Level 2:
Acquisition of a Bachelor’s degree plus 2+ years of related work experience.
Security Clearance & Citizenship Position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship. A clearance active in the past 24 months is considered active. U.S. Citizenship is mandatory for program access.
Shift Ability and willingness to work occasional compensated ad hoc support outside of typical business hours. Position is for 1st shift.
Pay & Benefits Competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities. Pay ranges are: Level 1 $76,500 – $130,500; Level 2 $94,350 – $127,650.
