Job Summary
Our client seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead estimating efforts out of their Charlotte, NC office. This role is ideal for a self-starter with 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience who can independently own large, complex estimates while serving as the estimating lead for the Charlotte market. Location: Charlotte, North Carolina Job Type: Permanent Salary: $140,000 - $170,000 per year Work Hours: 8am to 5pm Education: Bachelors Responsibilities
Independently lead and prepare detailed estimates for large-scale commercial construction projects ranging from $10M to $500M+ Serve as the sole estimator in the Charlotte office, owning estimating strategy and execution for the local market Collaborate closely with the Director of Preconstruction and Operations Manager to align estimating, budgeting, and execution strategies Support estimating efforts for the Durham office and other markets as required Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and vendor bids, leveraging a strong Charlotte-area network Attend subcontractor interviews, scope reviews, and client presentations Participate in client meetings, pursuit strategies, and preconstruction planning Represent company at industry events, networking functions, and market outreach activities Review drawings and specifications to identify scope gaps, risks, and value‑engineering opportunities Maintain accurate cost histories, market intelligence, and estimating documentation Qualifications
7+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating with a general contractor Proven experience estimating high‑value projects, ranging up to $500 million Strong knowledge of Charlotte construction market, subcontractors, and pricing trends Ability to independently manage estimates from conceptual through final GMP/lump sum Experience collaborating with preconstruction and operations teams to ensure bid accuracy and constructability Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working autonomously Proficiency with estimating software, timberline preferred Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred Skills
