Thank you for your interest in the Full-Time Permanent Registered Nurse - Chief Health Informatics Officer position within the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital - Columbia, Missouri. Responsibilities

The Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO) executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross services and/or discipline lines and influence the organizational healthcare mission. Health Informatics (HI) is a multidisciplinary and integrative field that focuses on health information management and information technology (IT) in support of health and health care. This position establishes a formal informatics leadership presence at the facility level, ensuring leadership in the implementation, sustainment, and daily operations of the medical facility\'s HI Service so that health information issues affecting the delivery of care are clearly articulated and raised for action. The focus of this position is to optimize effectiveness of patient care delivery and systems management in support of the Veterans Health Administration\'s (VHA) mission and goals. The CHIO is the resident expert in HI and health information technology. The CHIO serves as the primary advisor to the Medical Center Director, Chief of Staff (COS), Associate Director(s), and other members of the executive leadership team. The CHIO is expected to be a strong agent for change and must demonstrate an ability to understand the needs of their professional counterparts, i.e., medical support staff, nurses, physicians, pharmacists, etc. In addition, the CHIO must demonstrate understanding of the medical center\'s organizational structure and the role informatics plays across departments of the organization. The CHIO has oversight of one or more informatics areas within the organizational structure. The CHIO should demonstrate the following core informatics functions at the intermediate to advanced proficiency level, including content management, application support, health information technology system optimization, enterprise data management, business architecture management, partnership management, requirements management, and change management. The CHIO functions as an administrator, educator, consultant, and mentor who possesses a wide range of experience and leadership ability. The CHIO supports the integration and collaboration of all professional disciplines and functional areas in the mutual achievement of patient-centered and organizational goals. They champion a High Reliability Organization (HRO) with a culture of safety founded on a systems approach to developing evidence-based health care solutions based on prevention, not punishment, with collective mindfulness. The CHIO collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility and Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN). They work closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide. The CHIO relates effectively with customers, families, and the community as well as program and service leaders at the local and VISN levels. They assist the executive leadership team with healthcare operations and the functions and activities expected of them. The CHIO contributes ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of Veteran care. Qualifications / Requirements

The CHIO is expected to demonstrate leadership and expertise in health informatics and health information technology, with capability across the following areas: content management, application support, HI system optimization, enterprise data management, business architecture management, partnership management, requirements management, and change management. The CHIO should be able to lead, educate, consult, and mentor across disciplines and functions, and promote a culture of safety and high reliability. This is a clinical leadership position requiring collaboration with interdisciplinary teams at the facility and VISN levels, and effective communication with VA staff nationwide. The role supports patient-centered care and organizational goals through standards of care, policies, and objectives for Veteran care. Benefits
