Description
The Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level in the Department of Engineering at Hofstra University. The Department of Engineering has an opening for a faculty member with a background in one of the undergraduate degree programs offered at Hofstra: Bioengineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. The engineering programs at Hofstra are experiencing rapid growth, and the successful applicant will contribute to the department’s ability to offer a top-tier undergraduate educational experience to our students. Candidates must be effective communicators with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, be able to initiate sustained research—especially of a type that can involve advanced undergraduates—and show initiative in seeking external funding for research. The start date for this position is September 1, 2026.
Qualifications
PhD in Bioengineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in an educational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in first‑year engineering education.
