Controller — Professional Services (Part-Time ~25 Hours/Week)

About the Company Our client is a growing professional services firm seeking a strategic financial partner to lead its accounting operations. This hands‑on leader will collaborate with executive leadership and external advisors to ensure operational excellence and support financial strategy. The role offers an opportunity to influence growth and implement best practices in a dynamic environment.
Role Snapshot Serve as the firm’s accounting leader and strategic financial partner. Expect ownership of general ledger management, monthly close, payroll, compliance, and financial reporting, while advising leadership on financial strategy and operational improvements.
Responsibilities
Direct day‑to‑day accounting functions and manage the monthly close process, including preparation and analysis of financial statements and reporting packages.
Oversee billing, A/P, A/R, payroll, expense tracking, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
Maintain general ledger, including intercompany transactions.
Process semi‑monthly payroll and manage compliance for retirement and benefit plans; coordinate with third‑party administrators.
Serve as primary contact for banking relationships; initiate wire transfers, manage funds, and resolve compliance issues.
Coordinate with external accounting firm on tax payments, projections, and quarterly estimated taxes for shareholders.
Develop and monitor internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Prepare required
tax schedules
and support audits as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
Strong technical skills in QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
