Senior Corporate Accountant
Location: Washington, DC (On-site 3–4 days per week)
Hourly Rate: $45.00-$65.00/hour

Senior Corporate Accountant
to join a dynamic finance team supporting affordable housing initiatives in the Washington, DC region. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take on a leadership role within a mission-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and cash basis standards.
Oversee complex account reconciliations, including intercompany accounts, restricted funds, and accruals.
Manage general ledger operations for multiple entities, ensuring timely and accurate posting of journal entries.
Direct the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Oversee daily cash monitoring, liquidity tracking, and treasury operations.
Coordinate and approve wire transfers, check runs, and capital call activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project-based financial needs and strategic initiatives.
Support audit and tax compliance, maintaining organized accounting files and updating procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including supervisory duties.
Experience in real estate or affordable housing is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with MIP and/or Yardi is highly desirable.
Deep understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational and communication abilities; proven capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Demonstrated leadership and staff development experience.
