Welcome to the Management & Entrepreneurship Department in the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Business VCU is a nationally ranked R1 urban university committed to transforming students, and the communities we serve through innovative research, teaching, and community partnerships. As part of that mission, we seek a Chair for the Management & Entrepreneurship Department. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, spearhead the department's research efforts, enhance the department's culture of intellectual thought leadership, and promote a collaborative academic community. The Chair will play a central role in leveraging several transformative opportunities, including anticipated faculty hires and the recent acquisition of several grants and philanthropic investments that could expand the department's and the School's reach and impact.

Department Summary The Management & Entrepreneurship Department is committed to the advancement of high-quality research in line with the University's R1 Carnegie classification: a doctoral university with very high research activity. Faculty members have published in a wide range of leading journals including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Annual Review of Organizational Psychology & Organizational Behavior, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Organization Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Organizational Research Methods, Personnel Psychology, Science, Strategic Management Journal, and The Leadership Quarterly. The department offers an undergraduate major in Business with concentrations in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, and International Management. The department also offers minors in Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, and Management. Additionally, the department offers a PhD in Business with a concentration in Management. Faculty also teach in the MBA and Executive MBA programs.

Duties & Responsibilities In addition to leadership and administrative duties, the Chair of Management & Entrepreneurship is expected to conduct research and contribute to the teaching and service missions of the School. The Chair provides leadership, strategic planning, promotes a climate for faculty and student success, oversees course planning and department curriculum, and manages the department's fiscal resources.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a Ph.D. in a discipline related to the department's fields: entrepreneurship, human resource management, organizational behavior, or strategic management.

Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Excellent oral and written English language skills.

Established record of high-quality scholarly research that complements or expands existing expertise in the department.

Preferred Qualifications

A demonstrated record of effective academic leadership.

Experience in securing sources of external funding and working collaboratively with development initiatives.

Experience connecting with the business community to facilitate interactions between faculty, students, alumni, and community stakeholders.

A track record of developing or participating in student engagement initiatives.

Salary Range $300,000-340,000
