Director of Construction - DFW

Description Director of Construction is responsible for supervising all Construction Managers, updating reports, ensuring quality control in houses built, and implementing all policies and procedures throughout the entire construction process.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Manage all Dallas Division subdivisions and take ownership for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units and personnel
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with GFO’s policies and applicable state and federal laws
Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees
Responsible for profitability of the homes being built in their subdivisions and manage all cost by reviewing Extra Purchase Orders (EPOs)
Oversee field operations, production times, and ensure quality control so that the homes built meet the standards and are ready for homeowner occupancy
Create schedules to meet the build times
Ensure that assigned subdivisions meet all safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations
Handle escalated problems with subcontractors, home buyers, and homeowners
Ensure that all homes in construction area are constructed to contract, specification, and detail
Ensure that all work that is invoiced is fully acceptable and is 100% complete
Visit job sites, walk production and job sites to check quality and policy enforcement
Monitor and manage the Warranty team: oversee open claims, number of items on claims, and amount of days a ticket stays open
Drive customer satisfaction through modeling and mentoring practices
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Knowledge of residential construction concepts and practices
Knowledge of and experience with Excel, Word, and Project preferred
Knowledge of Build-Pro preferred
Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports
Ability to read blueprints
Ability to plan, organize, manage and supervise activities of direct reports
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
5+ years’ experience in residential construction
3 years mid-level management experience
Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling or stretching
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
Ability to travel the greater Dallas area is required
Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues on a jobsite
