VP - Income Tax (Finance)
The Vice President, Income Tax will be responsible for leading all aspects of the company’s domestic income tax function for a US-based, publicly traded company on the NYSE. This senior leadership role will oversee overall tax provision (ASC 740) and reporting, federal and state income tax compliance, tax support for mergers and acquisitions (M&A), cash tax forecasting, business licenses, and the management of income tax audits. The VP of Income Tax will ensure compliance with all tax regulations while strategically managing the company’s tax position.
What you’ll do
Tax Provision & Financial Reporting (ASC 740): Lead and manage the accurate and timely preparation and review of the consolidated quarterly and annual income tax provision, including all related financial statement disclosures for SEC reporting.
Tax Compliance: Oversee federal and state income tax compliance, including the preparation and timely filing of all income tax returns.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Support: Provide comprehensive tax support for M&A activities, including due diligence, structuring, and the determination of tax provisions for opening balance sheets.
Cash Tax Management: Develop and maintain robust cash tax forecasting models and monitor cash tax payments to optimize the company’s liquidity and tax planning.
Tax Audits: Manage all federal and state income tax audits, including developing audit strategies, coordinating with external advisors, and leading discussions with taxing authorities.
Business Licenses: Ensure compliance with all required business license and registration requirements across all relevant jurisdictions.
Policy & Strategy: Recommend and implement tax policies, procedures, and strategies to ensure compliance and maximize tax efficiency.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the internal tax team, and effectively manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors.
What experience you need
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
10–15 years of progressive experience in corporate income tax, with significant experience in a publicly traded company environment or public accounting
Deep expertise in ASC 740 and SEC reporting requirements
Extensive experience with federal and state income tax compliance and managing complex audits
Proven track record in providing tax support for M&A transactions
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
