The Opportunity We are actively seeking a Scheduler/Planning Engineer with 5 or more years of experience in project management/planning and controls to support large scale projects in Southern California. This role requires advanced scheduling expertise with Primavera P6 to develop, maintain, and provide value engineering of cost and resource loaded Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules. The ideal candidate is organized, has solid communication skills, can work independently with minimum supervision, is team oriented, personable, and possesses a strong desire to make a positive contribution to the business. This position is based out of our San Diego office.
Responsibilities
Review plans and specifications to establish project baseline schedules
Build and maintain cost and resource loaded schedules, update actuals to support earned value and generate financial/operational reports
Review monthly reporting packages, including narratives, schedule files and reports, summarize and provide executive summary
Perform network logic analysis to validate sequencing, float accuracy and critical path alignment
Perform analysis of change orders and claims
Conduct Time Impact Analyses (TIA) to validate risks, delays and recovery options
Conduct schedule coordination meetings with internal teams, contractors and clients
Provide clear, data‑driven insights that support executive decision‑making
Assist in the management of projects to ensure they are on schedule, within budget and meet the requirements of our clients
Perform construction site inspections and attend progress meetings
Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Required Qualifications
Engineering or Construction Management degree or an Engineering Technology diploma (EPPM, PMI-SP, PSP, PMP or equivalent) is required
Proficiency with Primavera P6 Professional and Microsoft Office suite
Minimum of five years of practical work experience
Write, review and critique baseline and update schedules related to civil infrastructure projects
Provide technical direction or supervision to engineering professionals, engineering, or computer‑aided design (CAD) technicians, or other professional and technical personnel
Perform studies, calculations, and reports in accordance with project requirements and engineering standards
Excellent customer service skills including an ability to interact professionally and knowledgeably with clients
Preferred Qualifications
California PE License or EIT registered and actively pursuing a California PE License
Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or willingness to work to obtain this license
We offer a generous salary and benefits package that includes company‑paid medical and dental insurance, vacation, and a 401(k) plan. Salary range:
$115,000
to
$160,000
