Vice President, Legislative & Government Affairs – SilverSummit Healthplan
Join us as an Executive who will be the key liaison to state government entities, improving the legislative and regulatory environment for our state health plan and Centene Corporation.
Position Purpose Serve as a liaison to state government entities to influence and improve state health plan policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
Assist with the development of state legislative public policy concerning state insurance, managed care, Medicare, Marketplace, and Medicaid regulations.
Manage strategic relationships and oversee the work and deliverables of health plan lobbyists and consultants to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Develop strategic relationships with state legislative policymakers to enhance the health plan’s role and assist in shaping public policy initiatives.
Identify, evaluate, and analyze the impact of state legislative and regulatory issues and advise management accordingly.
Represent the state health plan and Centene Corporation to outside trade groups and stakeholders, including state AHIP, medical association, hospital association, and related vendors.
Represent the state health plan and Centene Corporation to state legislators and their staff.
Develop and shape legislative policies and strategies through coalitions and issue advocacy campaigns.
Balance reporting requirements to multiple constituencies, including senior corporate leadership and government affairs staff.
Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Government Affairs, Business Administration or equivalent required.
Master's Degree or Law degree preferred.
5+ years of related experience required.
Extensive knowledge of state legislative and regulatory processes.
Experience with state legislature, health care trade associations (e.g., AHIP, NAIC), and federal and state Medicare and Medicaid laws and regulations.
Previous management experience, including hiring, training, assigning work, and managing staff performance.
Pay & Benefits Pay Range: $168,500.00 – $320,500.00 per year.
