Lewis Brisbois – a full‑service AmLaw 100 firm – is actively seeking an attorney to join its Healthcare & Long‑Term Care Litigation Practice Group in its San Diego office.
Overview The ideal candidate will be admitted to practice in California and have at least one (1) to seven (7) years of experience representing healthcare providers in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings. Experience defending and litigating medical malpractice lawsuits is preferred.
Practice Areas The firm represents healthcare providers in a wide range of specialties, including obstetrics, geriatrics, emergency medicine, surgery, cardiology, general practice, pulmonary medicine, nursing, orthopedics, neurology, oncology, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, genetics testing, radiology, dentistry, and podiatry. It also specializes in elder abuse litigation for long‑term care facilities.
Responsibilities
Drafting and responding to discovery, initial pleadings, and motions.
Arguing motions in open court.
Interviewing witnesses, taking and defending depositions, and preparing cases for trial.
Managing multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
Working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Qualifications
California admission to practice law.
1–7 years of experience litigating medical malpractice or related healthcare cases.
Strong writing and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Self‑starter and team player.
Preferred
Some experience in healthcare law.
Development potential for attorneys with litigation experience in other arenas.
Compensation USD $135,000.00 per year – $180,000.00 per year.
