Exempt The Development Director, under the direction of the principal, will coordinate fundraising efforts, maintain a donor database, have strong communications/public relations skills, and be able to cultivate benefactors to ensure that San Jose Catholic can expand in the future. Cultivate Donors
Cultivate donors through personal relationship and appeals Maintain records of funds given Send out periodic mail outs to parents, past and present donors Host donation drives / matching giving weekends throughout the year Host events such as school gala / golf tournament in order to raise funds and cultivate relationships Cultivate in-kind gifts – maintain wish lists from departments, assess value of in-kind donations, thank donor appropriately Donor Relations
Call, write thank you notes to, and visit benefactors as appropriate Host events for benefactors Maintain profiles of benefactors for administration Advise with principal on donor relationships Communication
Co‑ordinate marketing and social media to promote the school Bring awareness of student population and their needs Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal skills Attend staff meetings as needed Communicate openly with staff and collaborate on large projects as needed Develop and implement social media campaigns, including developing messaging and content, creating distribution strategies, and analyzing results for all social media platforms; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Develop and implement agency communications strategy and marketing plan by preparing information for Diocesan e‑newsletters and other public relations opportunities. Executes social media content and engagement strategy, including copywriting, graphic design and proofreading. Content writing for the website, blog, social media, and sales and marketing collateral. Design and prepare various event‑related marketing materials, to include brochures and flyers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supports the school’s spiritual mission Shall abide by Catholic principles in professional and private life. Works collaboratively and displays a positive, friendly and professional manner with all employees and school families; welcome them to the school community. Maintains and respects the privacy of the persons supported Be knowledgeable of school logistics, philosophy and history. Works closely with the school bookkeeper with regards to donors Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Must have a working knowledge of, and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and a Catholic School; a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church preferred. Ability to exercise courtesy to fellow employees, families, and the public Must be a self‑starter, well organized and able to handle multiple tasks Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is a must at all times; ability to travel locally as required; weekend and overtime work may be required Proficiency in computer technology to include word‑processing and spreadsheets Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance Ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience At least 3 years’ experience in related field
