Lockheed Martin is seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement a modern software framework for the F-35 Ground Systems Mission Planning Environment (MPE) project. The MPE is a critical component of the F-35 program, enabling all ground-based operations and playing a vital role in the successful execution of missions and overall operation of the aircraft. Who You Are
The successful candidate will assume a technical senior software role, responsible for leading the software development of a microservices container orchestrated (Kubernetes) architecture in a DevOps environment. As a Staff Software Engineer, they will lead the Mission Planning Environment team through the full development lifecycle, ensuring continuity and effective communication of software strategy, design, and implementation. The candidate’s responsibilities will include actively contributing to the development of new concepts and possessing full knowledge of industry and company practices, demonstrating expertise in the field and related disciplines. They will develop innovative solutions to a range of complex problems that are consistent with organizational objectives, and will work without direction to guide major projects to completion. The candidate may also function in a leadership role, guiding teams and projects to achieve organizational goals. The candidate’s work will be reviewed upon completion, will be consistent with departmental objectives, and their decisions will have a long‑lasting impact on the organization, heavily influencing the company’s direction. The candidate will engage with senior personnel on significant matters, ensuring their work is aligned with organizational objectives. Additionally, the candidate will enforce strong software architectural principles, including modularity, flexibility, and extensibility, develop next‑generation software, participate in end‑to‑end integration activities, analyze user requirements, and implement algorithms to meet system performance and functional standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive practical experience in software development, strong knowledge of software design principles and architecture styles, strong coding and technical skills, and excellent communication, problem‑solving, and leadership abilities. They will oversee software development teams, recommend new technologies and processes, and ensure quality control of all developed and modified software, demonstrating a commitment to delivering high‑quality solutions and driving technical excellence. Experienced Software engineer with sound technical knowledge. Programming experience required. OOP programming experience required. Desired Skills
Desktop application development experience desired. Programming languages C#, C++, or Java desired. Experience with hardware interface a plus. Full stack web development a a plus. Experience with agile methodology a plus. Security Clearance Statement
