R0010740Job Description:Boston Conservatory at Berklee is seeking a collaborative, detail-driven **Assistant Costume Shop Manager** to support the execution of costume designs for curricular performances across the Dance, Music, and Theater divisions. Reporting to the Costume Shop Manager (CSM), this role plays a key part in bringing creative visions to life while supporting a student-centered, mission-driven learning environment.Berklee’s mission is to educate, train, and develop students to excel in music, theater, and dance while shaping the future of the arts. The Assistant Costume Shop Manager contributes directly to this mission by supporting high-quality productions, mentoring students, and fostering a safe, inclusive, and innovative shop culture.**What the role does**

The Assistant Costume Shop Manager supports production planning, designer communication, and day-to-day shop operations. They help oversee costume execution from concept through performance, monitor schedules and budgets, coordinate fittings and measurements, and assist with sourcing, building, altering, and maintaining costumes. In collaboration with the CSM, they supervise staff and student workers, support hiring and training, uphold safety and maintenance standards, and represent the costume shop at production meetings. This role also contributes to long-term planning and strategy for the BCB Costume Shop and assumes oversight in the CSM’s absence.**What Berklee is looking for**

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise across all areas of costuming—including draping, patterning, sewing, dye and craftwork, dancewear, and wardrobe supervision—along with at least two years of experience as a Costume Shop Manager or Assistant Costume Shop Manager (or equivalent). A bachelor’s degree or comparable experience is required, as is prior experience teaching or training students or volunteers. Candidates should be highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable working independently and as a supervisor in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required; First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.**Work environment & culture**

This role works primarily indoors across costume shops, stages, and backstage areas, with some nights and weekends required. During peak periods throughout the academic year, hours increase to approximately 35 per week to support production needs.**Hiring Range:** $27–32.50/hour; rate dependent on relevant experience and education.
