Duration:

Temporary remote position (6–8 weeks), anticipated start March 2026.

Schedule:

84 hours per week (40 straight hours + 44 hours at time and a half).

Job Purpose The structural welder/fitter/fabricator performs welding of metal components for fabrication or repair of machine parts, plant equipment and structures according to layout, blueprints or work orders using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.

Essential Job Functions

Lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts, according to blueprints and specifications.

Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal, machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.

Position, align, and fit components together.

Bolt, clamp, and tack‑weld parts to secure them in position for welding.

Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.

Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.

Clean or degrease weld joints or work pieces.

Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas‑shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.

Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools.

Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform various cleanup and housekeeping activities.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability

Knowledge of the AWS, ANSI, and ASME codes.

Knowledge of operation of welding equipment, electrodes, fluxes, shielding gases, and welding processes.

Knowledge of carbon steel and other alloy metals, including stainless steel and aluminum.

Knowledge of the various sizes and grades of welding electrodes, proper use of electrodes and welding processes, and the appearance of a proper fit‑up and clean and prepared surface.

Ability to properly use and care for tools and equipment and welding electrodes commonly used on an industrial project.

Ability to operate all hand tools and power tools associated with welding processes.

Ability to prep steel shapes.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and perform assigned tasks with limited technical guidance.

Ability to read and understand engineering prints.

Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with fellow workers.

Ability to demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.

Ability to demonstrate support for the company’s environmental management system.

Physical Demands/Work Environment Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. The site is approximately 840 miles from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care. Physical demands include:

Standing, walking on level, uneven, and slippery surfaces; sitting, squatting, kneeling, crawling; reaching through low and high ranges; working overhead; maintaining normal balance and coordination.

Standing for prolonged periods.

Driving for prolonged periods in dark and inclement weather.

Climbing scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.

Wearing and using fall protection.

Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist (two hands) and from floor to shoulder (two hands).

Carry 50 lbs. for 15 ft. (two hands).

Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 ft. or 90 lbs. cart for 20 ft.

Requirements

Three (3) years’ experience in structural welding and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must pass a structural weld test upon offer (SMAW and FCAW welding process codes, D1.1 code, and ASME Section IX).

Valid driver’s license and ability to be covered by Worley auto insurer.

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) certification is required; Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Industrial, petrochemical, oilfield, or Arctic experience.
